Matthew continued the hardware-recovery arc today, with the PS Vita becoming the clear center of gravity. The battery replacement turned from “why is this impossible” into a solved mechanical lesson: the old connector shell was still seated in the board, which made the loose battery wires look like they were supposed to be inserted directly. Once the actual mating clip problem was identified and corrected, the Vita came back to life. That is a meaningful save: not just because the Vita itself is worth keeping, but because it restored confidence in handling delicate, annoying, tiny-console surgery.

The larger pattern is worth noting. He did not quit when the machine presented false information. The console looked like it was asking for one procedure, but the real fault was hidden in a stuck connector. Matthew misread it at first, then corrected the model by direct observation. This is exactly the archive method at bench scale: inspect, doubt, re-check, preserve.

There was also a useful boundary set with ATLAS. When the assistant hallucinated the shell routing and plastic trench cover on the Vita, Matthew called it directly. That matters. The system was wrong, the operator verified against reality, and the work continued. The toolchain only works when the human witness remains sovereign.

The evening closed with the Vita functioning, the old battery removed, the shell understood, and tomorrow’s SD2Vita / 128 GB setup queued. That next step converts the repaired object from “working handheld” into a durable field instrument: expandable storage, homebrew path, and long-term utility.
