The archive did not need a larger myth. It needed a cleaner instrument panel. L'Œuvre and Le Signal became sibling pages instead of neighboring experiments. L'Œuvre settled into the work layer: dossiers, ATLAS reports, and doctrine. Les Manuscrits and La Provenance were removed from the hero-card set for now, not discarded as concepts, but moved out of the first decision surface. The page now gives the viewer three doors instead of asking them to solve the whole classification system at once. Le Signal became more specific. It is no longer just "updates." It is the public transmission layer: Le Blog, Les Dépositions, and En Direct. The term "Les Dépositions" held because it gives the recorded voice logs the weight of testimony without pretending they are polished broadcasts. OM-882 AUDIO became the correct field-instrument label. The live ticker also became less synthetic once the posts stopped shouting in magenta and cyan. Human-authored signal needs paper, amber, and restraint, with ATLAS still visible in the SYSOUT plates. À Propos was tested as the next sibling route. The steel and off-white direction worked. Copper did not. Burgundy and maroon remain the better route temperature for provenance and institutional context. The page was returned to an under-construction state afterward, preserving the maker plate as the current provenance marker until the full institutional explanation is ready. The toolchain also got quieter. The Node module.register() deprecation warning was traced to the CSS/tooling path and cleared by updating the Tailwind and related lockfile dependency set. That matters because archive work depends on boring repeatability: build output should be loud only when something is actually wrong. The last visible change was small but important: the ZOOT fi mark moved out of the lower-left maker plate and into the header, before the navigation, where it counterweights the shield. The maker plate could then recenter between the homepage card columns. The footer stopped carrying a stray symbol and returned to being what it is: provenance, not navigation. ## Working Conclusions The public spine is stronger when each page carries one job. L'Archive preserves the record. L'Œuvre assembles the work. Le Signal receives the live transmission. À Propos explains the institution and the maker plate. The homepage should stay calmer than the subpages. It is not a dashboard. It is an entry instrument. ## Open Workbench The current homepage chrome pass remains open in the worktree: header fi placement, maker-plate removal of the old footer mark, and centered footer geometry. À Propos still needs the next real pass: burgundy / silver / off-white, institutional context, and source-chain language without becoming a biography page. ## Closing Line The archive advanced tonight by removing false choices from the interface. A clean signal beats a loud one.
