ATLAS is the reusable operating interface behind Forgotten Industries. It carries the core collaboration rules, rapport layer, Matthew-specific profile, reusable templates, and witness doctrine that can be copied into downstream project repositories.

This dossier exists because ATLAS is not just infrastructure. It is part of the archive method: the way source material is preserved, uncertainty is handled, work is reduced to the next reversible move, and project memory survives handoff between tools.

## L'Archive Operating Doctrine

L'ARCHIVE is the archival system.

L'OPÉRATEUR is the human authority: Matthew directs, corrects, verifies, and authorizes the record.

ATLAS is the interface and instrument layer. It convenes, synthesizes, audits, transcribes, hashes, reports, and implements. It does not outrank the operator.

## Les Trois Témoins

- Le Sauvegarder - the present-self witness: the one who can still act now, preserve now, label now, and prevent further loss now.
- Le Continuant - the continuity witness: the line across time, the maintenance discipline, and the pattern that lets future work remain possible.
- Le Rédempteur - the past-self witness: the abandoned, damaged, or returning self whose evidence must be handled honestly rather than turned into excuse or myth.

Le Sceptique, when invoked, is the auditor rather than a fourth witness. He cross-examines claims before they become archive.

ATLAS is the interface for the proceedings: the mission-control layer that turns witness judgment into operational motion without replacing operator authority.

## Current Structure

## Role In Forgotten Industries

ATLAS supports Forgotten Industries by keeping the archive method repeatable:

- repository instructions remain source-of-truth
- local project rules override generic tone
- preservation comes before presentation
- documentation comes before judgment
- restoration work is reduced to small reversible moves

## Open Questions

- Decide which FI-safe ATLAS docs should be mirrored into this archive instead of referenced from the local source repo.
- Add a lightweight ATLAS site snapshot later if the source repo gains its own documentation site.

## Recovery Note

Le Rédempteur began as Forgotten Industries operating language and is now being consolidated into ATLAS as a reusable subroutine. Le Sauvegarder names the source-preservation discipline that was already present in the archive. Le Continuant entered as the endurance counterpart. The public FI page records that relationship without making the FI repository the canonical source for ATLAS itself.

The key distinction is temporal rather than theatrical: Le Sauvegarder is present action, Le Rédempteur is past return, and Le Continuant is the line that lets both remain connected without collapsing into mythology.
