Four controlled axes for filing the institution's own records: public layer, record family, evidence state, and lifecycle.

Working Authority

Our language first.

Forgotten Industries language is canonical. External standards are crosswalk targets only after this vocabulary is stable in use.

A record receives one public layer and one record family. Evidence state remains separate from lifecycle, physical condition, access, and longer operational notes. A missing assignment stays visibly unassigned; it is not inferred from tone or publication alone.

What kind of support does the record or claim currently have?

    Directly supported by an identified file, hash, photograph, manual, inspection, measurement, or repeatable test.

    A dated statement from Matthew about custody, condition, history, or intent.

  • machine_transcription

    Machine transcription

    Locally generated text derived from audio and not yet established as listening-reviewed evidence.

  • listening_review

    Listening review

    A human has checked what a recording audibly says; this does not independently prove every statement in it.

  • inference

    Inference

    A reasoned interpretation that remains labeled and linked to its supporting record.

  • future_work

    Future work or candidate

    Planned, proposed, desired, or under consideration; not acquired, installed, tested, or completed.

Discovery Indexes / 1165 preserved terms

Source language remains reachable.

These indexes preserve useful words already present in records. They are discovery vocabulary, not the controlled FI authority, and they are not silently normalized or promoted into evidence.

Convergence Order

Stabilize before crosswalk.

  1. Assign a public layer and record family to new or materially revised records.

  2. Keep evidence state separate from lifecycle, condition, and access.

  3. Use lifecycle_state for the controlled stage; preserve lifecycle for dated event history where it already exists.

  4. Preserve legacy category, tag, system, and status wording as source vocabulary.

  5. Normalize repeated source terms only through an explicit alias or migration record.

  6. Build external standards crosswalks only after FI terms are stable in real records.
