About This Record
Forgotten Industries documents not only artifacts, observations, and conclusions, but also the instruments involved in their creation. These instruments may include cameras, audio recorders, computers, software systems, archival sources, and artificial intelligence systems. Human judgment remains the final editorial authority. Machine collaboration is documented as part of the chain of provenance.
Evidence remains anchored to canonical data, source documents, photographs, recordings, external source links, tracked commits, and Matthew's review.

Instrument Provenance
- Cameras & audio recorders. Photographs preserve object condition; original MP3 files remain the authority for recorded Field Logs.
- Computers & software. The archive is maintained as portable source files and generated with Ruby, Eleventy, and Tailwind CSS.
- Aerial observation instruments. Drone/UAV records are treated as documentary instruments and field-method evidence. Open Provenance From On High.
- Archival sources. Canonical YAML, recovered social records, manuals, forum archaeology, photographs, checksums, and preserved snapshots remain inspectable.

AI Provenance
Matthew Taylor Marx directs, reviews, and authorizes publication. ATLAS is the project operating layer; OpenAI ChatGPT assists editorial synthesis; OpenAI Codex assists repository implementation and verification.
AI assistance is process provenance, not independent source evidence. It does not replace authorship, source citation, factual verification, or the canonical archive record. Matthew directs, reviews, corrects, and authorizes publication.
- AI-generated synthesis
- Substantial wording or structure generated from operator-provided context or canonical records. All ATLAS Reports use this classification.
- AI-assisted editorial collaboration
- Matthew remains the primary writer while systems assist development, organization, revision, or editing.
- AI-assisted technical implementation
- Site architecture, code, data transformation, testing, and publication work performed through Codex under Matthew's direction.
