Forgotten Industries // Reader's Note // Entry 008
If you found this from an application for writing about collectibles and their history, start here.
The general door is A Way In. This one is narrower. Forgotten Industries has been, since 2014, an archive of objects that outlived the moment they were made for: boutique hardware, recovered machines, and the records that prove what they were. Every piece below asks the questions a collector asks. What is this, exactly? Where has it been? How do we know?
Entry 007 - Against Forgetting - a CaseLabs case bought around 2015, sealed in storage for a decade, and opened again not to build with but to understand. The shortest statement of why an object's history matters more than its spec sheet.
CaseLabs Mercury S8 Restoration - long-form documentation of a boutique case from a maker that no longer exists, written as it was taken apart and inventoried, so someone who has never owned one can follow every part back to its place.
X99 Recovery Dossier - the biography of a single machine: which board, which processor, confirmed how, and operating since when. Provenance assembled from social-media records, physical intake, and testimony, with every claim marked by how it was verified.
Entry 001 - Perspective, Peregrines, & Pang - the working vocabulary behind all of it, including pang: the moment an abandoned object becomes evidence again.
Entry 000 - A Thing Documented Is a Thing Not Yet Lost - the founding entry. Why the archive exists, and proof the voice holds for the length of a full piece.
The common skill is the one collectibles writing depends on: take an object most people would walk past, establish what it is and where it came from, and tell that history so a reader who was never there cares how it ends.
